The song of the day for Tuesday, November 4, 2014 is “All The Things You Are.”
About This Song
“All The Things You Are” was written by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II in 1939 for the musical Very Warm For May. It’s one of Kern’s most lovely songs and perfect Hammerstein lyric.
About This Version
Tony Bennett included this beautiful song on his 1962 concert at Carnegie Hall. The recording of the song is quite perfect; perhaps that’s why he’s never recorded it again. It’s definitely one of my favorite songs.
About Today
The Year Of Tony Bennett folks will be attending a Tony Bennett concert tomorrow and we’re definitely in the mood for live Tony Bennett. We hope you don’t mind us visiting the Carnegie Hall concert two days in a row. (No, I didn’t think you’d mind.) I absolutely love this song and Bennett’s singing on it. I hope you enjoy it too.
“All The Things You Are,” as well the Tony Bennett At Carnegie Hall concert album, is available from iTunes.
