This version is from Tony Bennett’s 1963 album I Wanna Be Around. The album is best known for the first recordings of two of Mr. Bennett’s most popular songs: The Good Life and I Wanna Be Around. There are many other fine songs on the album, though, including this one. Someone To Love was arranged and conducted by Marty Manning and produced by Ernie Altschuler.

Yesterday I Heard The Rain and People

Yesterday I Heard The Rain is one of my favorite Tony Bennett songs, even though it’s not one of his most popular songs. This lovely version is from a 1969 television broadcast in England with Count Basie. Also in this segment is People, from Funny Girl.

About This Version

Tony Bennett recorded Baby, Dream Your Dream as a single on December 14, 1965; Sweet Charity opened on January 29, 1966. It was arranged and conducted by David Rose and produced by Ernie Altschuler.

The same recording was included on his 1967 album For Once In My Life, as well as on Disc 3 of the Forty/Fifty Years: The Artistry of Tony Bennett box sets.
