Tony Bennett recorded “My Love Went To London” in July 1995 for Here’s To The Ladies. Jorge Calandrelli wrote the arrangement. In this album, Bennett recorded songs associated with popular female singers in the 20th century. This song was sung in tribute to Blossom Dearie, who was born 1924 and is being celebrated for her centennial.

“Spring In Manhattan” was written by Anthony Scibetta and Alice Reach in 1963. Blossom Dearie, a friend of Scibetta, introduced Tony Bennett to Scibetta. Tony Bennett said in the liner notes for Fifty Years: The Artistry of Tony Bennett that “It was refreshing to hear someone say something good about New York, so I decided to record it.”

Tony Bennett recorded “Spring In Manhattan” in 1963 for his album The Many Moods Of Tony, featuring an arrangement by Don Costa.

Composer Scibetta was a personal friend of Blossom Dearie, so it’s only natural that he would write a song for her. She recorded “My Love Went To London” in 1991 on the album Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

Tony Bennett recorded “My Love Went To London” in 1995 for his album Here’s to the Ladies. This album consists of songs associated with the best of the 20th-century female singers. This song is, of course, for Blossom Dearie.

I can’t say I’m terribly familiar with this song, but I can say that listening to it made me want to jump on the first plane to New York and enjoy the Spring. Tony Bennett recorded Spring in Manhattan for his 1964 album, The Many Moods of Tony. It was arranged and conducted by Don Costa and featured the Will Bronson Singers.
