The song of the day for Monday, July 22, 2013 is “Don’t Like Goodbyes.”
About This Song
“Don’t Like Goodbyes” is from the score for the Harold Arlen – Truman Capote musical House of Flowers, written in 1954.
About This Version
Today’s song is from Tony’s 2004 album The Art of Romance. This album will always have a very special place in my heart. I bought this album on the day it came out and don’t think I listened to anything else for days. I absolutely adore this album. The choice of songs tells the stories of romance, from beginnings to the periods that you know (or at least hope) will never end to the breakups. It’s beautifully recorded and produced as well. And yes, the cover photograph knocks my socks off. “Don’t Like Goodbyes” was arranged by the great Jorge Calandrelli, who has worked frequently with Tony Bennett since 1986 for The Art of Excellence.
