About This Song

“That’s My Home” was written in 1932 by Otis René, Leon René, and Ben Ellison.

The René brothers, Leon and Otis, were born in Covington, Louisiana at the turn of the 20th century. They wrote several well-known R&B songs, including “When It’s Sleepy Time Down South.” In addition to composing, they also created and ran several labels and even a record pressing plant. Louis Armstrong was the first to record “That’s My Home.”
