“When The Sun Comes Out,” written by Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler, is unusual in the Arlen body of work in that it was not written for either a musical or a film. It was first recorded in 1941 by Helen O’Connell with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. Other significant recordings (in addition to Tony Bennett) include those by Mel Tormé, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Eckstein, and Judy Garland.
