The Song of the Day for September 6, 2012 is The Lady is a Tramp.
About The Lady is a Tramp
This song was written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart for the 1937 musical Babes in Arms. It was an instant hit for big bands and singers, including recordings by Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, and Lena Horne.
About This Version
No, not that one. This one, his first recording from the first Rodgers and Hart album for his Improv label, the 1973 Tony Bennett Sings 10 Rodgers & Hart Songs. Not that there’s anything wrong with the Lady Gaga duet version, which I dearly love. He also recorded this song for Perfectly Frank.
