The song of the day for Saturday, November 5, 2016 is “Sing You Sinners.”
About This Song
“Sing You Sinners” was written for the 1930 film Honey by W. Franke Harling and Sam Coslow. The song was an early hit in 1950 for Tony Bennett. He sings the song regularly in concerts today.
About This Version
Today, I’ve chosen Bennett’s 1955 recording, arranged by Percy Faith. I was so pleasantly surprised to hear Mr. Bennett sing this song last week at his concert in Portland, that I couldn’t wait to feature it again.
“Sing You Sinners,” as well as all the singles collected on The Columbia Singles, Vol. 4, is available from iTunes.
About Today
Today’s video is Tony singing today’s song from what I believe is a concert in London from the 1970s that was televised in the U.K.
