While not tending to this blog, The Interactive Tony Bennett Discography, and two new sites that I’m working on (Seeking Ross Macdonald and The Jazz Songbook), your author works in a cubicle in a very ordinary office in a very ordinary suburb of the not-so-ordinary Portland, Oregon doing work that is both ordinary and quite interesting at times.
Lacking much in terms of decoration in said cubicle, I rather impulsively cut out the full-page ad in The New York Times last September for The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern, and pinned to the fabric of a cubicle wall. About a week ago, I made my own personal addition and am proud to say that it’s still decorating my cubicle.
It’s not much, but it pays the hosting bills. Anyway, just a little peek at my day job.

Would you be interested in an excerpt from my book? It is called “They Left Their Hearts in San Francisco: The Lives of George Cory and Douglass Cross,” and scheduled to be released in December. Thank you.

I’d love to! Congratulations on your publication! When we get closer to publication, I’d be happy to include links to booksellers for you as well.

Thanks, Suzanne. May I send you a brief excerpt, while I’m thinking about it, and you can use it as you choose? The book is available now, on pre-order, at amazon.com and mcfarlandpub.com. Best wishes, Bill.

I didn’t give you the full title. It’s “They Left Their Hearts in San Francisco: The Lives of Songwriters George Cory and Douglass Cross.” Shame on me, but it’s a mouthful. Hope it fits on the cover.
